Geology By Water Friends of the Owyhee Sammy Castonguay
Lake Owyhee State Park of the Oregon Park system offers great geology-by-water opportunities. The Owyhee Basalts sit high above on the canyon rim and during this trip we will be looking at the underlying formations through which they erupted.
The content is meant to be broad with detail: covering plenty of basics, making first hand observations, some interpretations, and using work of previous mapping to supplement. This trip would be good for rockhounds interested in geologic history, students from 8th - College and anyone in-between!
